Benjamin Burlingame was born in Amarillo, Texas on October 11, 1979. Much of his young life was spent pursuing things not at all music related and it wasn't until he started college that he developed a love for creating, playing, and listening to music. Having no background or training but what he taught himself, his attempt at a degree in piano performance was a difficult one. Despite his lack of sound keyboard technique, he found some success at the piano and worked unceasingly at improving and learning the classical repertoire.
In 2002 Benjamin Burlingame's right arm was paralyzed by a condition called transverse myelitis. Distraught, he withdrew from public life entirely for a year to consider what options were now available to him. Never finishing his degree in Piano Performance, he decided to go back and finish it! He enrolled at the University of North Texas as a Composition Major with a concentration in Piano.
While at UNT, Benjamin met and married his current wife Sarah and finally graduated with a Bachelors of Music degree in Composition. In 2009 he welcomed a daughter and the following year he began his Master's Degree in Composition at West Texas A&M University. He currently resides in Amarillo, TX and maintains the position of Choir Director for Borger Middle School in Borger, TX.
